National Apprenticeship Week 2025 – Jordan Dias

National Apprenticeship Week 2025 – Jordan Dias

Education hasn’t been a straightforward path for me, I didn’t have the traditional educational path with personal circumstances preventing me from committing full time hours to A Levels or a University Degree. I thought that I would be locked out of education, that certificates and qualification were just completely out of my reach – well, I am proud to say, I have just completed the first month of my Level 4 Marketing Executive Apprenticeship and I don’t think I’ll be looking back!

Apprenticeships allow you to have your cake and eat it! You can maintain full time employment whilst studying, in a program tailored to support that (no more super late nights and no more 50 cups of coffee the next day), all while being supported by your place of work with a day of the week to study.

My Apprenticeship provider works closely with my line manager to create my learning plan, with both on the job and off the job support. I took some short tests to gauge my learning level – once onboarded I have regular sessions, check-ins, and reviews from the provider and my team at work to ensure that my learning is accommodated every step of the way.

Our sessions are held online, in a classroom type format – My tutor, Anna is absolutely hilarious and really makes learning engaging and fun – this really helps with retaining the information (something I’ve found harder as I get older) and she’s very available in case I have any queries or need extra sessions to support my learning.

I have really enjoyed my time studying over this last month, the apprenticeship program has really bolstered my confidence – there were a lot of topics covered in my learning plan that I thought I didn’t understand at all. However, after having conversations with my tutor and line manager, my discussions show that I do understand the topic – and I know that if at any point I was struggling, I can reach out to my tutor / learning platform.

I cannot wait to see where my Apprenticeship takes me – f you’ve ever considered taking a first bold step into higher education, or you’ve been out of education for a while and want to take the plunge back into it – I would recommend an Apprenticeship.
